Mash it UP

I had a bit of a mash-up thing going on the other day, so I thought that I would add some info here to let you in on it.

First there was the “Grey Album”:http://www.illegal-art.org/audio/grey.html , “DJ Danger Mouse remixed the vocals from Jay-Z’s The Black Album and the Beatles’ White Album and called his creation The Grey Album” to quote the website. Some of it works, some of it does not! But it’s quite fun none the less.

Then I moved onto Monster mash-up, but that has since been pulled from the website. Shame it was quite fun, again mixing all sorts of things together.

Moving on to “A Night at the Hip-Hopera”:http://www.kleptones.com/pages/downloads_hiphopera.html by the “Kleptones”:http://kleptones.com . This time taking some classic Queen tracks and mixing over all sorts of nice things. A splendid effort.

And today I have been listening to SID files. These are old Commadore 64 sound files. It was “Mentioned”:http://www.srcf.ucam.org/~hmw26/join-the-dots/?p=527 by Hanna Wallach, who is on “Debian Planet”:http://planet.debian.org/ . Twas much fun, Thank you Hanna and apparently Nick as he says, “you gotta love music that is delivered as instructions for a sound-generating chip.â€. Just good old fasioned fun, so I downloaded all 48Mb of them. (That works out at about 23 thousand, and you thought mp3 compression was good!)

And the ever popular “Radio Paradise”:http://radioparadise.com/ providing a fine stream of background music, with very little talking and no adverts. It’s a little more than that playing a lot of fine album tracks, the upcoming list right now has The Who - Baba O’Riley, Iggy Pop - Lust for Life, Jethro Tull - A New Day Yesterday, and Afro Celt Sound System - Further in Time.

No No No “Nigel Ogden”:http://www.bbc.co.uk/radio2/shows/organist/ is where it’s at!
